Sirius parts with Betelgeuse in the hallways of the castle; both are covered in blood from their latest venture and in desperate need of a bath, but things at home call for Sirius’ attention and thus he sadly cannot join his friend.
“I’ll meet you for dinner later, yeah” He calls out after him.
Betelgeuse looks over his shoulder and offers a smile. “I was wondering when you were going to ask.”
Sirius can’t help but snort in amusement. “I’ll take that as a yes, then.”
He is given no further answer than Betelgeuse winking at him before turning a corner and vanishing from sight. He is always in such a playful, lively mood after their violent little excursions. To Sirius, it is more endearing than anything else.
He prepares to go on his own way when the faint sound of voices approaching catches his interest.
“The reports are back already, Betelgeuse really outdid himself again this time.”
It’s a vaguely familiar voice; a warrior of the Lux clan, one of Betelgeuse’s acquaintances. Accompanying him is another voice, albeit one Sirius does not recognize.
“It’s not like he even needs to try so hard, right It’s not like first place is going to be stolen from under his feet.”
The two laugh.
“He could slack off for weeks and second still wouldn’t catch up.”
Sirius frowns. Once he had completed his training, Betelgeuse was recognized as the strongest in the fairy kingdom. And as for Sirius, he has always been…
“I mean come on, you think a Tenebrae fairy even has a chance at first place”
“It’s a surprise that Tenroin manages to stay that high.”
The two men turn the corner and find themselves face-to-face with Sirius. He takes them both in, noting the brilliant white clothes both wear, denoting their status as fairies of the Lux clan.
They stare up at him in shock, clearly aware that they had been overheard. One starts to babble some faux apology. Sirius says nothing in return, instead turning away from them and making his way down the corridor on his lonesome.
They call after him, but he ignores it.
