Tell Me All About It. A relationship study between Hifumi and his sister (somewhat doubles as a character study for her) with background established relationship HifuGen.
"Yumeno Gentaro, huh" His sister’s lilt teases him through the call, and lucky for them, it's one of those days Hifumi can handle video as well. She smiles, a toothy grin that matches his own, but he wonders if she'll ever smile at him the same way she used to when they were kids. "I thought you guys had beef or something."
"Water under the bridge" he says, waving her off. "No one can resist Hifumin's charms, after all~"
She rolls her eyes, lime green with gold flecks that glimmer like his. "You can say that again All the ladies at my office are crazy 'bout you."
"Oh, yeah Y'know, I can send some autographs and stuff your way. That oughta please ‘em"
"Nooo thanks They already ask me a ton about you, I don't need them hounding me for Hifumin freebies either."
“Why not There’s plenty of me to go around.”
“Can’t say the same for me when it comes to your fangirls.” Though she sighs, her lips quirk up and flaunt those dimples they have in common.
“C’mon, your brother’s the number one host of Shinjuku Don’t you wanna show him off”
“I think you do that enough for the both of us.”
"Okay, okay, your loss~"
"No biggie, I'll live," she says, giggling — full, vivacious, and all-consuming compared to his laughs that bubble over like champagne. Then again, they've both been the type of people to feel with their entire being.
That includes the lull that follows the fizzling of her laughter.
They stare at one another, practically mimicking the other like their mom said they did when they were babies, and neither of them are the type to let silence linger too — that was, until silence shoved itself into their ties. Over a decade now and nothing's really changed since «she» turned their lives upside down.
Well, some things have. This video call is the very proof of it, where ten years ago he couldn't contact his sister. The dead air between them went from annual emails to monthly texts to biweekly chats and heck, maybe he'll even talk to her two days in a row. Progress, right
(But the screen still separates them — the fears that have taken root within his soul, the scars that have torn their once tightly knit bond. You can fix a broken mirror, sure, but you can't get rid of the cracks in the reflection.)
"So you and Yumeno-sensei," she says, and to be honest, Hifumi's glad she's the older one — the one who takes the lead when he can't. He can only charge ahead so far. "How'd that happen Tell me all about it."
That, he's more than happy to do. Hifumi perks up, and she said to tell her all about it so all about it he goes into. "Crazy story Y'know, he's not as cool as the interviews make him seem..."
She listens as he recounts the totally-not-biased tale of how he swept Gentaro off his feet (because he did, he definitely did despite how much Gentaro denies it), and she listens as he rants about each of Gentaro's bad habits (buuut, okay, he'll admit he's getting better with the cleaning), and she listens as he gushes about every cute thing Gentaro does (he keeps a giant ankylosaurus plushie his friends gave him, like hello). She listens, she listens, she listens, but she's always been a better listener than him, anyways — if only barely.
As much as a chatterbox Hifumi is, though, his voice has to sputter out sooner or later — but there's so much he wants to tell her, so much he wants to share. They'd been inseparable at one point, two halves of a whole, and he can't be complete until his other half learns to love his boyfriend as much as he does. In the end, there's one thing Hifumi is certain of: "You'd like him a lot."
She hums, soft and sweet. He knows she means it when she says, "I'd love to meet him."
"One day" he says, as if "one day" will be any time soon. "We'll hang out, just the three of us."
Her reply is just as confident, another Izanami trait that's both theirs for better or for worse. "Sounds like a plan"
It's a plan with no date, no details, no nothing — but it's a plan nonetheless. And like all of Hifumi's plans, he'll see it through.
A day where he can be together with his loved ones, without dread creeping into his mind or panic seizing his body or the pounding of his heart overwhelming him. Regardless of how long it may take, no matter how many more obstacles he has to face, this future he sets his sights upon and makes sure it'll be exactly how he imagines it.Tap to full screen .Repost is prohibited
