南陽将軍は人間界をぶらぶらしていて、仙京にはたまにしか戻らない南陽将軍は人間界をぶらぶらしていて、仙京にはたまにしか戻らない……そんなことが何百年も続いていたのだから、数日彼の姿を見なくても誰も気にはかけていなかった。
ただ約束の夜に風信は慕情の元に訪れなかった。
南東に夥しく厄介な妖魔が蔓延っていることに気づいたのもちょうどその頃だ。

ひとり捜索に出かけた慕情がみつけたのは、おぞましい色の花を咲かせる大木だった。花は咲いたそばから儚く散り、その下から膨らんだ歪な球体は弾けるように四方八方飛んていく。
慕情をみつけると、狙いを定めて襲いかかってくる。彼の日の鄙奴を思い起こさせるような、しかしいまの慕情の前では結界で防げるようなものだ。
その木の根本に人影があり、慕情は目を凝らさずとも誰だかわかる。
