嫌いになりたい、嫌いになれないぎしり、ぎしりと床が軋む音が鼓膜を震わせる。
何の目的もないその足は幾つかある部屋の前で止まる。
その部屋の扉は少しだけ開いていた。
何と無しに、無意識に、当然のように扉を閉めようと手を伸ばす。

その嗚咽を聞いた時に、私はその場から離れるべきだった。
なりふり構わずに。
音が鳴ろうがそこに居たことがばれようが。
けれど気になってしまった。
部屋の中から嗚咽が聞こえたからだけではない、それが知らない人間であれば私は扉を閉めていただろう。
「もう、ゆるして」
声の主は道化師、―――ゴーゴリだった。
吸い込まれるように扉の隙間から中の様子を伺う。
彼の狂人が、一体何をどうしたら弱音を吐くだなんてことになるのか気になってしまった。
