DEMAM“Amato Hey, Amato You’re so hot”

My round buddy who call himself “the destroyer robot” shakes me up...Stop it. My vision is shaking and I feel sick…And, I’m so cold. What’s happening to me

“Aaaaamaaaatoooo Amato Do you overheat Hey, come on”

His angular hand strokes my forehead. Oh, it’s a bit cold and refreshing… but, his loud voice echos through my head.

……Now I get it. I have a fever. The last time I had a fever was several years ago, so I didn’t realize it. Probably, I have a cold……
Today is holiday, so I was going to go eat ABC with Pian. Luck is against me…

“……Amato”

I’d never say anything MechaBot, so he called me again, softly.

“Call Dad or Mom……I have to go see a doctor, and I’ll get better……maybe……”

……Wow, I have a sore throat.


I dropped Pian a line and tell him that I can’t meet him today. Then, Dad took me to a doctor, and I got some medicine. My throat got better, but I’m still under the weather. Where is your usual self, Amato

“Amato Was your repair completed Were you repaired”
“……I don’t get well so soon.”

MechaBot looks very chastened to hear my answer. Probably he regards human illnesses as like failures of machines.

“Weren’t you repaired The mechanic you met must be a non-licensed”
“He’s not a mechanic, he’s a doctor…l’ll take medicine, sleep well, and I’ll get better. Don’t worry.”

MechaBot doesn’t look to understand clearly,and he bites his lip. He was looking forward to eat ABC, too.

“Sorry for having to cancel the appointment. If you wanna eat ABC right now, bring some coins putting on usual place in the garage.”



I had a nap. When I woke up, Mom and MechaBot brought me the lunch. Mom put a bowl of porridge, a cup of water,and a pack of the medicine on a side table. Then, she said,
“MechaBot, take care of Amato well.”
After that, she went out of my room.

“Did you go to eat ABC”
“No way.”

MechaBot replies me grumpily, and he picks a spoon up.

“Open your mouth. I’ll feed you it.”
“Huh No, not need, return me a spoon, I can eat it by myself”

I was embarrassed, so I took a spoon back to him in a hurry. I feel tired because of a cold, but I’m not a little child

“……Ah, I see.”

MechaBot has his back to me sullenly.
……Did I say something wrong
It was too awkward to apologize him, so I had a bite the porridge. It’s hot and a mild taste. The rice and veggies are cooked soft, so they’re easy to eat.
While l was eating the porridge, Mechabot was floating, and kept glancing at me.

“You have to take “MEDICINE” after it, don’t you”
“……Yup.”

My eating speed becomes slow. MechaBot doesn’t know powdered medicines is very bitter.

“If you take MEDICINE, will you be repaired soon”
“Not soon.”
“Hmm.”

MechaBot picked up the pack of medicine, and looked into it. Then, he took a packet out from the pack.

“Don’t open it without asking”
“Mix it into one you’re eating For time-saving Humans’ behaviour is always too late”
“No Stop”

MechaBot opened the packet and tried to mix the medicine into the porridge. So I had my back to him and saved the porridge.

“If you don’t take MEDICINE, you won’t be repaired Don’t you wanna be repaired”
“I’ll take it, but I don’t wanna mix it into the porridge It will destroy the porridge Leave me alone Stop bugging me There is NOTHING you can do”

I heard the sound of MechaBot catching his breath, and the sound of the door being closed, so I realized he went out of my room.
……I know. I think I said too much.



I ate all of the porridge in the silent room. The packet of medicine comes into view, but… I’d rather not to take it. So I put the empty bowl on the side table and lie down on my bed again.
I tried to sleep again, but my phone started ringing. It was a video call from Pian.

“Amato, are you feeling any better now”
“Yup, I’m getting better than this morning.”
“Did you take some medicine”
“………………Needless to say.”

Pian looked like to doubt my saying. And, he said,
“Mara, Deep, and I visited you at midmorning. But we couldn’t meet you cuz you were sleeping…… MechaBot asked us “What is Cold”, “Is he repaired”, “What must I do”, and so on.”

To hear Pian’s words, l recall what MechaBot did.

“Then, we told him about humans’ illnesses. For example, humans are tired of everything when they’re catching a cold, and, if they take medicine and sleep well, they’ll get better.”

MechaBot tried to feed me, and tried to give me medicine as soon as possible.

“Remember the time MechaBot got broken, Amato and I went to the spaceship Rubika attacked you, But you ran to repair MechaBot…… You were so cool at that time ……MechaBot said “It’s my turn.””

My vision is blurred, but it’s not because of a fever.

“Pian……W, What have I done…… I, I said hurtful things to him……”
“Hurtful things”
“I said to him, “Stop bugging me” ……and “There is NOTHING you can do”……”

I didn't know anything. MechaBot worried about me and he tried to take care of me. But I hurt his heart, and coldly pushed him away.

“Do you regret it”
“……Of course, I do.”
“Then, you should apologize to him now. He’s there now.”
“……What”

I looked back. MechaBot floated holding a tray with a mug.

“Mecha…”
“Hey, Pian Why didn’t you tell me MEDICINE is bitter You know, Amato has BABY-LIKE tastes, so he cannot take bitter MEDICINE”

MechaBot yells at Pian.

“Well, which means Amato didn’t…”
“Sorry, Pian Let me know next time to go to eat ABC~”

I hanged up the phone in a rush. ……Oh my gosh. I’m the armored hero “MechAmato”, but I disgraced myself

“……Amato, if……if you don’t take MEDICINE yet……”

MechaBot timidly held out the tray to me. It was hot cocoa drink. I thought Dad had made it, but cocoa powders were scattered all over the tray.

“……Did you make it”
“Well, I’m not forcing you to drink But Dad said, when MEDICINE is too bitter to drink, you can mix it into cocoa drink…”

I received the tray from MechaBot, and put it on the side table.
After that,

“Thanks a million for everything, MechaBot.”

I hugged my favorite round buddy.

“…Well, Hey, Amato, you’re still hot. I don’t dislike to hug, but you should take MEDICINE as soon as possible.”

My buddy’s body also felt hotter than usual.



MechaBot’s cocoa drink was sweet enough to soften the bitterness of medicine…… But my tear made it a little bit salty.
