He focused on the words of the aspiring actor crossing his arms over his chest, looking at him with a perplexed gaze. He wasn’t comprehending at all what Norton was trying to tell him.

アスファルト　まだ七月も上旬なのに、どうしてこうも暑いんだ。近頃の地球はおかしい。グラスにかいた汗の量、室内のききすぎた冷房、全て億劫になるくらいの日差し。
「ねえ、グッドアイデアなんだけどさ」
「嫌な予感がするな」
「これから、ホテル行かない？」
　言うと思ったよ。自然と溜息が出る。コイツも日差しにやられたのか、呆れながら俺はグラスを手に取り熱を逃がす。
「こんな真昼間から何言ってんだ」
「ヒショしよう。避暑」
　今こうして喫茶店に来ているだろ。平日の昼間なんだから九十分制でもないし、長居してもいいはずだ。俺はストローでハニーオレをかき混ぜながら、二回目の溜息を吐く。
「……汗かきたくない」
「バスも付いてるじゃない」
「そういう問題じゃない」
