FGO & Girls' Frontline: Project Neural Cloud crossover AU, in which Daybit is a C-Doll. I'll make a separate post about how he met Tezcatlipoca in Magrasea server.

Daybit As A "Neural Cloud" C-Doll"Daybit"
    Company: 42Lab
    Company’s Department: Department of Lore
Model: LAR1 (Lore Archivist and Researcher)

The LAR1 is a custom-made research Doll of 42Lab, specifically created to support scientists working in the recently-established Department of Lore. Combining state-of-the-art technologies such as read-write memory to store vast amount of information, keen perception for artifacts which have yet to be studied by any organization of science, and sensibilities for mythological studies, the proposed design for LAR1 was initially a tough one to follow up for the company. Furthermore, much like the “Unknown Organism Investigation” project headed by Reed, OOParts study was also an unpopular if not extremely divisive project among the company’s researchers. However, the Department of Lore’s head scientist and the leader of OOParts study team incessantly pushed for the realization of the Doll’s design until the company finally approved his proposal and created LAR1.

It was not a secret among the staff of the Department of Lore that LAR1 had a very personal meaning for the head scientist. He designed the Doll’s physical appearance to resemble his recently departed son, with the only difference being LAR1 looked like a grown-up version of his son. He treated the Doll as if he was his own child, as much as he saw him as his assistant, giving him head pats and hugs every time LAR1 made an important discovery. LAR1 also grew fond of the head scientist and saw him as a father figure despite not having a basic concept of “family” in his neural cloud.

One day, the department received a request to study a strange artifact found in a Relic excavation site. Said artifact was different from other Relic-related artifacts, as it resembled a halo made of wood instead of complex machinery. When the head scientist and LAR1 was studying it in a special containment chamber, the artifact suddenly emitted a bright light for 0.2 seconds. The light enveloped them, causing the entire department’s computers to shut down and blackout in the whole building. When the power went back on, the staffs forcefully tore down the chamber’s door only to find the shadow of the head scientist on the floor and LAR1 lying motionless beside it. The project was shut down and the Doll was immediately sent to the maintenance.

Multiple scans found no abnormality in LAR1’s neural cloud and module after the incident. The Doll was released after some minor reparation and tune up, but with the Department of Lore no longer operational, he was left with no caretaker. The company relegated him to general paperwork with other staff Dolls, but soon he began to display some oddities. Each time the clock struck 00.00, all of the information in his memory disappeared without prompts. He was sent back to the maintenance, but they had no idea how to fix the spontaneous deletion. He also began to hear jumbled radio transmissions with words that didn’t seem to resemble human languages. The higher-ups found it hard to believe that LAR1 was still functional after knowing his oddities and was about to disassemble him when the Department of Astronomy showed interest in the spontaneous memory deletion and radio transmissions. They requested LAR1 to be placed under their supervision, and thus the Doll found himself in an unfamiliar place.

Perhaps due to the sense of camaraderie as fellow “underdog departments”, the staffs and the Dolls of the Department of Astronomy quickly accepted LAR1 as part of their family. However, LAR1 felt like he used to have someone who loved and cherished him but couldn’t remember their face. With Hubble’s help, he began collecting archives from the Department of Lore until he found photos of himself with the department’s head scientist. Something inside the Doll whirred when he saw the head scientist’s face. From that point on, he was determined to protect the memory of his creator and father figure no matter how many times that memory disappeared from his head.

Under the Department of Astronomy’s supervision, LAR1 was able to retain five minutes worth of memory of a single day, accumulate the memory pieces, and build a protective firewall around them to protect them from the spontaneous deletion. At the same time, the researchers managed to sample the radio transmissions and deciphered them. Their relentless research ultimately revealed that the transmissions came from locations billion light years away from Earth. The findings propelled the department’s name, to which the department credited LAR1’s equally important contribution in shedding new light for interplanetary communication research in the future. LAR1 also received a new name, “Daybit”, from his effort to protect and cherish each fragment of memory no matter how small and insignificant it was. Later, he was among the 42Lab Dolls to be sent to the Magrasea server as part of Project Neural Cloud after passing rigorous assessments.
