It was 2 am and both the twins couldn’t sleep so they stayed up longer than usual. Until one of them went to sleep and the other one couldn’t. So he stayed up till 5:08 till he went to sleep. But unfortunately little did he know he was going to be late. He opened his eyes and was greeted with a blinding ray of sunshine. Thinking that it wasn’t that late he turned to look at the clock on his nightstand and found out it was 7:42. He was late but didn’t have the strength to get up. A few minutes later he heard the front door and the screen door open downstairs. He thought it was his dad but instead it was his friends. Yushiro and Takeuchi. Both of them came up the stairs and entered his room. “... what are you two doing here” he asked, his voice sounding groggy. Takeuchi spoke up and said, “Muichiro told us to come get you so he gave us the spare key to your house.” Yushiro then said, “He told us you were knocked out and even he tried to wake you up but you wo

午前2時。双子は二人とも眠れず、いつもより長く起きていた。片方は寝たが、もう片方は寝なかった。それで5時8分まで起きていた。そして眠りに落ちた。しかし、まさか遅刻するとは思ってもみなかった。目を開けると、まぶしい陽光が差し込んでいた。そんなに遅くはないと思い、ナイトスタンドの時計を見ると7時42分だった。遅刻はしたが、起き上がる気力は残っていなかった。数分後、玄関のドアと階下の網戸が開く音が聞こえた。父親だと思ったが、実は友人だった。愈史郎と武内だった。二人は階段を上り、彼の部屋に入ってきた。「……二人ともここで何をしているんだ？」彼はぼんやりとした声で尋ねた。武内が口を開いた。「無一郎が迎えに来るように言って、家の合鍵をくれたんだ。」すると勇志郎は「お前は意識が朦朧としていたって言ってたよ。起こそうとしたけど、びくともしなかったんだ」と口を挟んだ。二人は勇志郎を助け起こし、身支度を整えた。一時間後、勇一郎はようやく準備ができた。「待って、帰る前に、探し物を手伝ってほしいんだ。バッグをなくしたんだ。手伝ってくれるか？」と勇志郎は尋ねた。「どうしてもっと早く言ってくれなかったんだ？」と武内は怒鳴った。「もし覚えていたら…覚えていない時に言えばいいじゃないか。そんな馬鹿な！」と上から下まで怒鳴った。二人は上から下まで探し始めたが、見つからない。勇志郎は二階で双子の部屋をチェックしていた。勇一郎は昨日洗濯をしなければならなかったので、地下室をチェックしていた。そこは彼が最後に探す場所だった。武内がキッチンから叫んだ。「おい、勇一郎がメモを残していったのを知ってるか？」そして、そのメモを読み始めた。 「有一郎、自分のカバンをどこに置いたか思い出せなくて、君のカバンを使わせてもらった。ごめんね :D- 無一郎。」三人はメモを見て、少し顔を見合わせた後、メモを投げ捨てて出て行った。そう、全員遅刻して授業まで3時間も待たされたのだ。少なくとも授業には出なくて済んだ…冗談だ。
