    DayTez Halloween Fic

    So unserious.
The ending was kinda stupid and unfinished.
    Awkward wordings ahoy.

It was a calm and silent night. An unusual night, as the Lostbelt Mexico City was always full with the hustle and bustle of its inhabitant saved for particular dates dedicated to holy rituals. It was quiet, so quiet you couldn't even hear the whisper of the wind.

That night, when Daybit went back to his resting chamber, he saw a tall figure clad in white sheet standing in the corner of the room.

    "..."

The young man dropped his bag on the floor and approached the white figure. His purple eyes scanned it from the top to bottom. He noticed two vague triangle-shaped things peeking from the sheet; something that looked like the tip of boots. Satisfied with his discovery, he looked up to stare at the figure where he perceived their eyes might be located underneath the sheet.

"If you're trying to hide, then it's not working", he said calmly.

The figure let out a disgruntled noise. "Shoot. I thought kids these days still think sheet ghosts are scary".

"Some kids do, but I'm not a kid, Tezcatlipoca," replied Daybit, frowning at the reality that the god still thought of him as a baby.

"Never mind then," Tezcatlipoca shrugged. Still wearing his sheet, he lifted his arms in front of him with his hands limp. "In your era, tonight is called a "Halloween Night," he said. "I heard people dress as ghastly beings and knock on the neighbors' doors. If they don't get candies, they'll play pranks on the poor neighbor."

Daybit nodded. "A convenient way to hoard sweets. It's like holding someone hostage, but instead of demanding for money, you demand for edibles."

"I don't think you can compare it to a hostage situation, Daybit," sighed the god. "It's more like trying to appease the spirits so they won't jinx you."

"Appeasing the spirits. That makes sense, even more so because you're a god," said Daybit.

"That's right. So,..." Tezcatlipoca lowered his voice, his tone mischievous. He walked slowly toward Daybit; arms still raised and his gait jaunt. "Trick or treat, Daybit. Appease me or I will bring you bad luck for a week."

This, too, was within Daybit's prediction. He whipped out a bandana decorated with a pair of wolf ears and wear it on his head. The sudden move stopped the god right on his track.

"Uh...what are you doing" asked Tezcatlipoca.

"Dressing up just like you, but I'm going for something that's the opposite of you. Did you know that dogs could detect a spirit's presence"

Tezcatlipoca snorted, now bringing his hands to his waist in a challenging manner. "That's funny. So you're planning to catch me, a ghost."

Daybit nodded again; his eyes now locked on to his target. "Naughty ghosts that love to tease children must be punished."

The god bursted out laughing at Daybit's words like he just heard the best joke. "I can't believe you just used my lines like that, you disrespectful brat" he said in-between chuckles. Just as quick as his mood changed, he immediately straightened himself and made a "come on" gesture at the young man. "Fine. If that's what you want, then come and get me. Let's see how good this puppy is."

Indeed, Daybit didn't need to wait for another sign. As soon as Tezcatlipoca stopped talking, he rushed forward and flipped the god's sheet from the bottom up. Tezcatlipoca let out an uncharacteristic yelp at the surprise attack and dropped his guard, allowing the younger man to grab his waist and came face-to-face with him just as the sheet fell down on them.

    "Gotcha"

"Dammit, Daybit. That's one hell of a dirty trick you got," Tezcatlipoca grumbled.

"I can play pranks too," said Daybit. He moved his face even closer to Tezcatlipoca until the tip of their noses touched. He saw the god's face flushed with a mix of anger and embarassment, feeling his heart beat faster at the sight. "Now, I want my reward."

"I don't see you bring any candy, though."

"Hmm, you're right. And you don't bring them, either."

"Hey, I could make them right here and now, although..." Tezcatlipoca paused to give the younger man a sly grin. He slid his index finger underneath Daybit's chin and kissed him. He licked his lips after, earning an even louder heartbeat from the other man. "Yours are much sweeter than candies."
