Yamazaki x ReaderWitnessing this, you decide to…

    > Go to the VIP room to ask your supervisor about it.
Sneak off and wander through the facility while no one is looking.
    Don’t do anything.

You decide that the best course of action is to head to the VIP room and inquire your supervisors about what you witnessed. It isn’t breaking NDA if you’re simply asking about random criminals, right

Making your way down to the floor where the VIP room was, you saw the keypad on the door. You didn’t know the passcode, so your next best option is gently knocking to see if anyone was inside.

Of course, just your luck, knocking ended up pushing the door open. Apparently, someone hadn’t actually closed it all the way on their way out, allowing you access inside. Unfortunately, you don’t see your supervisor anywhere in sight.

There is, however, a tall, intimidating man in a green uniform looking over some documents while sitting on the couch.

“Hm Who are you How in blazes did you get in here”

There’s no mistaking it, this was…

    “General Yamazaki”

No wonder you had to sign a nondisclosure agreement Did Tsukuba have military ties this whole time

Oh no, he’s reaching for the sword on his belt

“Wait, hold on Forgive me” You yelp. “I was looking for my supervisor. I tried to knock, but someone left the door open, so I just walked in. I didn’t know he wasn’t here”

    He stops.

“Ah, new blood. I see.” The General scoffs. “Why were you looking for him”

Of course, now that you see that he’s armed, you’re hesitant to admit what you witnessed.

“I just had a question was all.”

“Then you can ask me,” Yamazaki says. “I might have the answer since I work closely with your superiors.”

Crap. He wasn’t going to let you leave.

“I saw men in masks, wanted criminals bringing people in. I wanted to know what was going on.” He reaches for the sword again. “I’m not going to break NDA, I just need to know It’s my first night here”

“Didn’t you know that curiosity kills” Yamazaki chuckles. “So, I have no reason to think you’ll squeal, is that right”

Well, it’s not like you have much of a choice now.

“I just want to know the truth. I think I’ll feel more comfortable on my first night if I know the reason why criminals are just casually walking in and out.” You sigh, trying to relieve the anxiety in you.

“All part of the greater good, my dear newcomer.” He laughs at your nervousness. “Military research. Mankind shall evolve and we will no longer have a need for weak, mortal soldiers that bleed and cower. Those criminals, they fetch samples that fuel our weapons, so I do not have to rely on cowards in the army.”

    This was… absolutely horrible

“You’re letting people die for the sake of military science”

“Would you rather my soldiers die tragically” Yamazaki sneers. “That sort of news would be hard to break to their families.”

War was such a terrible thing. Why did it need to exist

“Can’t you use your research to put an end to war”

“Yes. This research will eventually bring salvation to the world once enough people are surrendered.”

First weapons, now salvation This didn’t make any sense

“Won’t you be out of a job if you bring salvation to the world and there’s no more war”

Oh, you actually managed to catch him off guard. General Yamazaki takes a moment, trying to process a response but ultimately turning up silent. Perhaps he wanted to be free of his job Or would he feel accomplished as the man who singlehandedly ended wars at the cost of some human lives Hardly seemed worth it.

“I have nothing else to say to you.” He gives up. “The criminal activity, the government, it all ties to this facility. You are under NDA, so you shall speak of this no further.” Yamazaki pauses. “Do you need me to escort you back to your post”

    “Huh”

“It’s easy for new blood to get lost in the facility,” he grunts. “I’m simply offering help. Which station do you work at”

This was quite a surprise. You weren’t sure whether to trust the General, but if he wanted to get rid of you, he would do it here behind closed doors, wouldn’t he

    “The front desk,” you answer.

He gets up from the couch, closes the file he was looking over, and guides you out the door. “I needed to leave for home soon anyway, so I might as well also guide you back. I’m going to have to make a note of the Crusaders using the front door and passing by your desk so you don’t complain about this again. I didn’t realize they were creating witnesses.”

With the way he worded it, it sounded as if Yamazaki was going to dispose of the Crusaders instead of you.

Your eyes somehow ended up wandering as you were walking back to the front entrance with him. The halls really aren’t all that interesting, and while it’s impolite to stare, you can’t help but be drawn to the sword on his hip.

    That's when you notice something.

“General, you aren’t married at your age”

It’s a bit inappropriate to blurt out, and you didn’t realize you were speaking out loud until you see him visibly flinch.

    “Well, I—”

    Oh dear, he’s stammering.

    “Why are you even asking”

He’s so quick to fly into a violent rage, it stops being scary and becomes mildly amusing for some reason. Perhaps it’s because you didn’t expect him to be defensive about it.

“Your hand doesn’t have a wedding band, and I thought someone with your reputation and age would surely have a wife waiting for you at home.”

Is he blushing Wow, what a rare treat You must have really embarrassed him.

Come to think of it, alongside the intimidation factor, it’s hard to deny that General Yamazaki is actually quite the handsome man. He has this sort of natural, masculine charm to him. That must have been why it was shocking.

“I’m sorry,” you apologize. “I didn’t mean to sound rude, it was more like I was surprised. You seem like a perfectly eligible bachelor, sir.”

Oops, that might have made it worse. His face is entirely pink now Was it against the workplace rules to call him adorable You can’t help but giggle at his reaction.

“Here,” he stops at the front desk with you. “Now get back to work, no slacking off”

“Yes sir.” You wave him off. “Have a good night, General I’ll see you tomorrow"

You had completely forgotten about the kidnapped people at this point. Of course, you didn’t have much choice other than letting it happen, even if it was morally wrong. But on the plus side, you had something to look forward to every morning

Unless there was a rule against it, you were definitely going to embarrass General Yamazaki every time he walked through those doors. Who knows If he really is single, you could have a chance with him if he lowers his barriers.
